Early signs of MS

When it comes to multiple sclerosis, first signs of disease are not the same for all of the patients. They can vary depending on age, gender, general health state and other factors. However, the most common signs of MS, in the beginning, are painful vision problems, called optic neuritis , which is manifested by blurry and disrupted vision. If a patient is diagnosed with optic neuritis early, treatment could change the course of the disease.

Numbness and tingling are also happening because the nerves are affected by the disease, and therefore, they cannot send signals to some parts of the body, especially in the face and limbs.

Multiple sclerosis affects the cerebellum, which is responsible for balance and fine motor coordination. That is why people diagnosed with this disease are facing the difficulties with movements, often drop things, or feel weak. MS is often painful at the very beginning, because of the spasms and stiffness of the muscles.

Another common sign of MS is bladder problems , either the urge to urinate often or an inability to hold the urine.

MS also affects mental health , leading in most cases to mood swings, emotional disbalance and depression. Besides that, as high as 50% of people diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis experience cognitive problems, such as difficulties with speaking, concentrating and memorizing.
